International LST and Emissivity Group

The International Land Surface Temperature and Emissivity Working Group (ILSTE-WG) aims to provide advice and recommendations to the wider scientific and user communities on the best practices for retrieval, validation and exploitation of Land Surface Temperature (LST), Ice Surface Temperature (IST), Lake Surface Water Temperature (LSWT), and Land Surface Emissivity (LSE).

Period of report: March 2017

The main activities in this reporting period can be summarised as follows:

  • Progress Meeting #7 held on 29 March 2017 at ECSAT
  • Joint UCM with the H2020 EUSTACE Project has been agreed for Lisbon on 27-29 November 2017
  • D. Ghent presented the current status of progress on LST in the community to GCOS-TOPC
  • UCS#1 paper has now been submitted to JGR-Atmospheres
  • CCRR Initial analysis undertaken has included calculation of the performance metrics and LST impacts for each of the 10 submission scenes
  • Calibration of HIMAWARI and MODIS data for Merged Product
