International LST and Emissivity Group

The International Land Surface Temperature and Emissivity Working Group (ILSTE-WG) aims to provide advice and recommendations to the wider scientific and user communities on the best practices for retrieval, validation and exploitation of Land Surface Temperature (LST), Ice Surface Temperature (IST), Lake Surface Water Temperature (LSWT), and Land Surface Emissivity (LSE).

Period of report: December 2016

The main activities in this reporting period can be summarised as follows:

  • White Paper on Satellite LST (DEL-28) finalised and accepted
  • Close-out pf Phase 2 and start of Phase 3
  • D. Ghent co-chaired the successful EarthTemp sessions (2 oral sessions and 1 poster session) at AGU 2016 in December with colleagues from NASA JPL
  • D. Ghent presented the GlobTemperature ATSR CDR in the CEOS-LPV session at AGU 2016 as an invited presenter
  • Analysis and interpretation of polar and continental SNOs for intercomparison report
  • Submission of paper to JGR for UCS#5
  • Submission of proposals to Obs4MIPs for ATSR CDR and Merged Product datasets
  • Infrastructure continues to be developed to process SLSTR L1 data on S3MPC CTCP into GlobTemperature products (L2P and L3U)
